Put simply, I have a final suggestion; crossbows! We can make them out of both metal fittings and wood, and would be not only more expensive than bows but would be more powerful! And for staffs, we could use gemstones to make special staffs for more powerful magic weapons, and would be able to have something like being able to dual-wield daggers or other one-handed weapons! This could be awesome!
